Korean musician Cho Chul-hyun is an internationally renowned artist, a national intangible cultural heritage educator in Korea, and a distinguished essayist and philosopher. Since 1996, Mr. Cho has been serving as an educator of Daegeum Sanjo a traditional Korean music form listed as a national intangible cultural heritage of Korea. Mr. Cho's artistic journey began in Miryang, Gyeongsangnam-do, where he grew up in a poor family. However, his resilience and love for art helped him overcome many difficulties, eventually transitioning from a design profession to fully dedicating himself to the field of traditional music.
After giving up his career as a senior researcher in the washing machine design department at Goldstar Co. now LG Electronics in Changwon Industrial Complex Cho Chul-hyun decided to devote himself entirely to the study and dissemination of traditional Korean music. In addition to performing over a thousand times both domestically and internationally, he also founded the Cho Chul-hyun Daegeum Institute and served as a judge for Korean traditional music festival competitions, greatly promoting the popularization and development of this art form.
